arduino ideで文字化けしてしまう

実現したいこと

ESP32 devkitcを使ってarduinoを無線通信を行う

前提

現在、arduino ideにてesp32 devkitCを使ってのwifi接続を試行錯誤しているところです。

使っているマイコンは、ELEGOO UNO R３です。

ファイル→スケッチ例->wifi -> simplewifiserverで出てきたコードを使って試しているのですが、シリアルモニタに文字化けしたものだけが表示されてしまいます。（本来は wifi connected.　とIP番号が表示されるはずです）

コードはスケッチ例のものを引用しており特に間違ってはいないと思うのですが、いったいなぜ文字化けしてしまうのでしょうか。

教えていただけると嬉しいです。
