PYTHON hist関数の値を取得する方法

Pandas データフレーム型のメソッド
hist()について質問です。

hist()ではヒスとグラムを描画しますが
これに使用した値を抽出する方法はありますでしょうか。

こんな感じ？

import numpy as np
import pandas as pd
df = pd.DataFrame(np.random.randn(10, 2))
df.hist(bins=5)
s = df.iloc[:, 0]
#s = df.iloc[:, 1]
print(s.value_counts(bins=5, sort=False))

.value_countsまではいきつきましたが，binsでデータ区間を指定してカウントしてかつ戻り値で
確認もできるのですね。
