Gitの基礎に関するターミナルでのエラー(Atomエディタ)

プログラミングなど初学者です。
Git、Githubについて学ぼうと思い、以下のオンライン講座を参照していました。

その中でAtomエディタを使って、まず.gitを作成し、index.htmlという適当なテキストを入力したデータを変更したのですが、実行しようとすると以下のエラーが出てきてしまいます。

-m optionならびに-F optionというものがどのようなものか調べてもわからず、
解決策などをお教えいただければ幸いです。
