docker-compose でbundle installが出来ない

・試したこと

docker-compose run web bundle install

実行後にイメージをbuildしなければならないことを調べ、

docker-compose build

としたがGemfileの変更が出来なかった。runコマンドでコンテナが5つほど作られてしまい、runコマンドは違う？と思ったが、そもそも、Dockerfileのbundle installが実行されるのがbuildコマンドであるため、新たにコンテナを作成するrunコマンドの必要性が分かりませんでした。build→イメージを作ってからはdocker-compose up で同じコンテナを使うため？

質問が拙いとおみますので修正箇所をお教えして貰えると助かります。

以下、余談ですが、、、

runコマンドでコンテナが5つほど作られてしまい

docker-compose run --rm web
↑のように--rmオプションを付けてあげると、コンテナ停止時に自動で削除してくれます。

runコマンドは違う？

本問題に関しては、run buildは無関係だと思います。

build→イメージを作ってからはdocker-compose up で同じコンテナを使うため？

その認識で合ってる気がします。自分はdocker-compose run --rm web　rails cでコンソールを開いたり、コンテナ内に入るために使用することが多いです。

返答遅くなりすみません。紹介頂いた記事で解決は出来ましたが、https://teratail.com/questions/291124この質問者さんはbuildしたら動いたとあり、自分もbuildを行ったので、gem update --systemこのコマンドのお陰のみで解決できたのか、buildも行ったから解決できたのかの判断が付かないのですが、どちらかどちらもなのかどちらなのでしょう。
