wordpress 自作テーマでサイトマップが表示できない

Question

error on line 1 at column 7: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

といった内容のエラー画面が出てしまいサイトマップが表示できません。

function.phpの空白行の削除
wejnswpwhitespacefix.phpをルートディレクトリに置いてindex.php
wp-includes/feed-rss2.php wp-includes/feed-rss2-comments.phpの2つにob_end_clean();の記述を追加

などの対処法は取ってみたのですがどれも効果がありませんでした。

かれこれ3日程ハマっております...
