Q&A前提
Ubuntuで、手動でdovecotの設定ファイルをrm -rで消してしまいました。
その後、再インストールしようとしましたが、
Not replacing deleted config file /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf
などとなり、再生成されません。
実現したいこと
apt install dovecot-common dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d
で、/etc/dovecot/以下の設定ファイルを自動生成してほしいです。

試したこと
apt-get -o DPkg::Options::="--force-confmiss" --reinstall install dovecot-common dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d
や、
apt -f install
などを試しましたが、一部のファイルは生成したものの、全部を生成できません。

自己解決
別端末に同一OSをインストールして、入れたいソフトをapt installで入れて生成された設定ファイルを、希望の端末にコピーすることで解決しました。
